So that's what President Bush said in his annual State of the Union Address before a Democrat congress. I try not to make my Blog political because I try not to worry too much about politics. I do my civic duty and make sound election decisions with plenty of candidate research on issues that I believe are relevant to myself and my family. So what do I think about the war? Pretty much as the rest of the world does that we should never have entered Iraq. But that being said, we did. So now is the time to fix it and make sure that the thousands of lives that have been lost on both sides do not die in vain. We do need to make sure that civil war does not break out in that region. To allow this to happen would mean that we as Americans would loose any individuals in that region who (by some unknown fate) don't already hate us. To leave the Iraqi people in a state of chaos would cause resentment. We should never have entered Iraq and to leave the people in that country with a lower quality of life than they had before we started that war would be irresponsible. Do I support more troops? I'm still unsure on that subject. WE DO NOT NEED ANOTHER VIETNAM!!! I believe in alternatives to this action. What they may be will require debate and much thought. When we loose the support of the citizens in Iraq we have lost the battle. I believe we have not yet reached that threshold. Taking away more power instead of giving it to Iraq's leaders would cause us to loose that support. At this time in our lives we must all find whatever faith/religion/ideology we hold dear to give us guidance to do the right thing. Our future generations count on us as citizens to do the right thing without regard of political affiliation. Bush is our President regardless of what political card he belongs to. We must all come together to give our troops the best opportunity to succeed and come home safely to their families. As always take what you want and leave the rest.

Good post, Christina! When I first heard of the war in iraq, I cringed. I hate the thought of war. I don't know of anyone that admits to liking war. I still stick by the President. I don't know about more troops as I don't know how this could really help us or the Iraqy people. I know that the Iraqy people do need to step up and learn to fend for themselves, fight for their country, their own freedom and be a part of that country.
I agree. I too am not sure if more troops would help. They do need to learn how to govern themselves and defend their own territory. I would prefer that to happen sooner rather than later.
Great Post. I find it amazing that so many people want Iraq to fail. I think thats the point where we are now. People want the Iraq war to be a failure. If we pull out now, it will be just like that. More troops in Iraq could mean an earlier exit for all troops, but what do I know? Anyway I too think that the Iraqis should learn to self govern, but I dont think that the United States would have been able to self govern if the civil war started right after the Revolutionary war, which is what is going on in Iraq as we speak.
